3D mask

a mask i made during my "Folkhighschool" year in 2001. Its a one-year sabbatical to indulge in the subject matter of your choice. Mine as, surprising enough, fine art. Here I met the best art teacher I ever knew, mr Tom Berre.

This mask is unintentionally clever, as the plan for my tutor was that the eyes would be see-through. But i wanted red eyes, so i painted the pieces of transparent plastic he had me heat up (much to his frustrated laugh). But the magic of it lies in this - when i had to drill holes underneath the eyes so that the wearer barely can see out, you move your head around to see. And so you move in a peculiar way, and so you become the monster - unaware.
